Materazzi: I made peace with Zidane

Inter Milan defender Marco Materazzi has revealed he's made his peace with Zinedine Zidane after their 2006 World Cup feud.

Meeting by chance in Italy while Materazzi was visiting former Inter boss Jose Mourinho, the ex-Perugia stopper says he made the first move.

“I reached out and I said ‘listen, I'm sorry this happened, it's over.’ He said ‘no, no, no problem, do not worry.’ We shook hands and that was it.

“Man to man is what is most beautiful, because to make peace for the sake of FIFA and before Sepp Blatter is just advertising.

“But making peace in the car park of a hotel, it was like two friends or two enemies meeting and shaking hands.”

Despite clearing the air with the French icon, Materazzi added that he now wants to discuss the matter with FIFA.

“FIFA called me but did not allow my lawyer to discuss what happened with the committee,” he explained.

“They just need to keep the reputation of Zidane and make me look like the bad guy,” he continued.

“As Blatter speaks Italian I know we can exchange a few words quietly. Sooner or later it will happen…”

Zidane: I will never apologise to Materazzi!

French legend Zinedine Zidane says he'll never apologise to Inter Milan defender Marco Materazzi for their World Cup bust-up.

Real Madrid icon Zidane was sent off in his last ever competitive game, having struck Italy defender Materazzi in the chest during extra time.

“At first it was difficult, I cannot deny that,” Zidane told L’Equipe.

“I was provoked on that occasion and it doesn’t seem right for me to say sorry, even if I’m not proud of the gesture. But I will never apologise.

“All this is a part of my career, of my life. There are moments that are not welcome and this is one of them.”

Jose Mourinho has worked another miracle - ending the fued between Zinedine Zidane and Marco Materazzi.

Zidane and Materazzi confronted each other at Real's team hotel this week as Inter Milan players visited their old coach.

The pair greeted each other and then started speaking. In the end, peace was the outcome of their meeting.

Marca says "There was a conclusion of peace, the scene ended with an affectionate hug, the past has been forgotten."

France and Spain want to cap Enzo Zidane, but will he be as good as his dad?

Zinedine Zidane says son Enzo Zidane has not made a decision on which country he intends to play for. Both France and Spain have announced they want to cap the Real Madrid attacking midfielder.

But Zizou says: "Nothing has been decided. To date, Enzo has not yet been selected by Spain nor France. And I think it's better that way.

"It is true, in terms of gestures, when I look at him, I see myself."
