End of the World Predictions - 2007
Image by Bedtime Champ via FlickrHal Lindsay said that the world would end sometime in 2007. Actually, he's moved his dates around a few times. First he said the world would end 40 years after the creation of the State of Israel. That would've made it 1988. Then, it was 40 years after the 1967 war, which would be 2007, with the Rapture back in 2000. Now, it's moved around again, to either 2040 or 2047. Good luck with those, sport.

End of the World Prediction May 21, 2011 - Oct 21, 2011
Image via Wikipedia I've been a little obsessed with the Apocalypse lately. Not in a "world is really going to end" kind of way. I just keep thinking that I've heard these deadline before. What started this was this guy in the subway the other day with a sign saying that the world will end on May 21 of this year.There have also been commercials on tv saying that there's a guy who knows when America will end and that this guy's predictions have been right in the past. Well, I figured out that this guy is Harold Camping. He's a a rich guy who owns a lot of radio stations who decided that the world will end in May but that the world will also be consumed by fire on Oct 21 of this year.
Now, before you run out, grab your emergency supplies, and kiss your loved ones goodbye, you should know that he also predicted the same thing for 1994. I guess he's just figuring that people will forget about how wrong he was back then and follow him now.
These events, along with all of these shows on the History Channel about the end of the world, Nostradamus, and the Antichrist got me thinking: how many other times has someone predicted the end of the world so I did a little research. It turns out there are at least 240 other times some self proclaimed prophet scared everybody into thinking that the Rapture was coming. It goes all the way back to 2800 BC. The Jehovah Witnesses and the Watchtower Society are good for at least 8 of them over the past century. I've decided I'm going to post one prediction a day, just so people will stop this "end of the world" stupidity. After all, it'll be every body's end someday but I doubt the entire world will end on the same day.
This post about May 21 will count as the first one. According to Camping, the world will end at sundown in Jerusalem. He points to Matthew 24: 35 - 36 as proof. Remember, though, that this is his second prediction. By the way, the photo on this blog? That's Harold Camping.
