Barcelona fear losing coach Pep Guardiola - to Arsenal.

The Daily Star Sunday says there’s growing concern at the Nou Camp following the Barca boss’s decision to sign only a one-year extension to his contract.

The Catalan club wanted their brilliant boss to pledge himself to the club on a longer deal.

And the Premier League is seen as the most likely destination if Guardiola decides he needs a new challenge.

He’s been touted as a candidate to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson, 69, at Manchester United when the Red Devils’ boss finally calls it a day but Arsenal l is said to be the club closest to Guardiola’s footballing heart.

The key to any move, of course, is the future of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, 61, who has been in charge at the north London club for nearly 15 years – and who still enjoys the support and respect of the board at The Emirates.

And yet despite that backing, even Wenger needs to win trophies – something he’s failed to achieve for six years – which makes the rest of this season and the next campaign crucial for the Frenchman’s future.

While Guardiola refuses to put a date on his proposed departure, he insists he will leave when the time is right.

"When I feel I'm not needed, and don't have the passion and strength that I have now, that's when I'll feel enough is enough. Then I'd go," he said.

"There are two ways of leaving - when you aren't winning and get sacked, or when you leave naturally, knowing that the right time has come. Everything has to end at some point.

"When you have been here for four years (which he will have been when his new deal expires), then you are nearer to the end than the start."

El Mundo Deportivo says following the dismissal of Leonardo, AC Milan hired super agent Enzo Bronzetti to approach Guardiola about moving to Italy.

Bronzetti met with Guardiola's agent, Jose Maria Orobitg at the Hotel Princesa Sofia and presented him with a bumper contract offer.

Days later, Orobitg fielded another Italian offer, this time from Inter Milan, which was tabled by agent Giovanni Branchini.

Despite the staggering numbers, Guardiola rejected both Milan deals to stay with Barca.
