IMTA Alum Elijah Wood's film premieres at Cannes!

Elijah Wood's newest film Maniac premiered at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival Saturday, May 26th!  Elijah walked the red carpet and even took a photo of himself on the red carpet with his iphone!  Just Jared has all the details, as well as as the Cannes preview with french subtitles (for mature audiences only).

Elijah got his start at IMTA in 1989 when he caught the eye of the famed superagent Al Onorato. He moved from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Los Angeles and booked his first roles in Paula Abdul's memorable video Straight Up and the feature film Back to the Future Part II. Elijah has starred in over 40 feature films in his career and is one of Hollywood's (and IMTA's!) most-loved actors!

IMTA alum Elijah Wood to star in Grand Piano!

IMTA alum Elijah Wood has signed on to star in the indie thriller Grand Piano! According to The Hollywood Reporter:

"The story concerns a once-great concert pianist who suffers from stage fright and comes back to perform after a five-year hiatus. Just when he's about to play the first bar, he notices somebody has written a threatening note on his music sheet. He's now forced to play his best concert ever to save his life as well as his wife's. Think Speed at a piano.
The movie will shoot at Ciudad de la Luz Studios in Alicante, Spain, and a week in Chicago. A late summer production start is being eyed."

IMTA Alum Elijah Wood to star in Syfy's Treasure Island!

According to TalkTVWorld, "In a special, one night only movie event, Syfy will present a fresh, new spin on the classic tale, TREASURE ISLAND, featuring an all-star cast led by Eddie Izzard, Elijah Wood and Donald Sutherland. Robert Louis Stevenson's swashbuckling adventure story about fantastical treasure, youthful courage and murderous greed will premiere Saturday, May 5 from 7-11PM (ET/PT) on Syfy."

IMTA's Elijah Wood in Happy Feet Two!

IMTA Alum '89 Elijah Wood stars in Happy Feet Two! Elijah reprises his voiceover of the lead character Mumble, a penguin living in the snow covered hills. His first Happy Feet film won a BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Children's Award in London. It also won accolades from audiences worldwide and earned an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

Elijah is preparing to start filming on the dramatic film Home in January. Elijah is currently portrays Ryan in the hit FX show, Wilfred. Elijah was in the film The Romantics with fellow IMTA alumni Katie Holes 1993 and 1995 and Josh Duhamel IMTA 1997! Elijah is currently filming the three films, TRON:Uprising, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again. Elijah is also involved in Maniac, Revenge for Jolly!, Celeste and Jesse Forever and Treasure Island.

IMTA's Elijah Wood Stars in television series Wilfred!

IMTA alum Elijah Wood has a new show airing tonight called Wilfred. In this new comedy series airing on FX Elijah plays Ryan. According to FX's official site, "Wilfred is a half-hour, live-action comedy about 'Ryan,' a young man struggling unsuccessfully to make his way in the world until he forms a unique friendship with 'Wilfred,' his neighbor’s canine pet. Everyone else sees Wilfred as just a dog, but Ryan sees a crude and somewhat surly, yet irrepressibly brave and honest, Australian bloke in a cheap dog suit. While leading him through a series of comedic and existential adventures, Wilfred the dog shows Ryan the man how to overcome his fears and joyfully embrace the unpredictability and insanity of the world around him."

Elijah attended IMTA in 1989 where he impressed casting directors, managers and agents looking for new talent. He is best known for his role in the Lord of the Rings film series. Elijah is currently working on The Hobbit: Part 1 and 2 and as a voice in TRON: Uprising . His movie Happy Feet Two in 3D is set for release in November of this year.

Elijah Wood Stars in New Beastie Boys Video!

Beastie Boys' released a new short film for "Fight For Your Right - Revisited" in anticipation of their upcoming album titled Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2. The first single "Make Some Noise" from the new Beastie Boys album is an extension of the short film.

Elijah Wood stars in the project as one of the Beastie Boys alongside Seth Rogen and Danny McBride to complete the trio. The music video and short film was directed by original Beastie Boy Adam "MCA" Yauch. Many hollywood celebrities are featured in the video, such as Rainn Wilson, Steve Buscemi, Will Arnett, Kirsten Dunst, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Will Ferrell, Jack Black, John C. Reilly and Jason Schwartzman.

Elijah Wood attended IMTA in 1989! Since competing at IMTA, Elijah has been cast in numerous feature films such as Forever Young, The Good Son, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Everything is Illuminated and the Lord of the Ring movie series. Elijah is currently working on The Hobbit: Part 1 and 2 and as a voice in TRON: Uprising.

IMTA's Katie Holmes Starring in The Kennedys!

Katie Holmes' new mini-series The Kennedys aired last night! In this historically based drama, Katie portrays first Lady Jackie Kennedy. The series is based on the Kennedy family and on JFK's Presidency. It will air Sundays on the Reelz Channel.

Katie competed at IMTA in 1993 & 1995! Her beauty and talent have won her lead roles in movies such as: The Romantics, with IMTA alums Elijah Wood,'89 and Josh Duhamel, '97, Pieces of April, Batman Begins, The Extra Man, and The Gift. She is featured in Ann Taylor’s Spring 2011 Advertising Campaign and recently was named the Max Mara Face of the Future. She just released a film called The Son of No One at the Sundance Film Festival and is currently filming the comedy Jack and Jill with Adam Sandler!

Elijah Wood in The Hobbit!

IMTA alum Elijah Wood has signed up to appear in The Hobbit! He is set to reprise his role as Frodo, a central character in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings books which the movie is based on. According to deadline:"Wood is confirmed to star in Peter Jackson’s “THE HOBBIT” to be shot in New Zealand. In addition, he has signed on to play “Ben Gunn” in Stewart Harcourt’s adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s TREASURE ISLAND along side Eddie Izzard. The 2 part/ 4 hour miniseries will be airing on SKY TV in the UK. Alan Moloney is producing with Steve Barron directing. Wood will next be seen this summer in FX’s new series “Wilfred”, as well as lending his voice to Warner Bros. “Happy Feet 2” set for release November 18th as well as Disney XD’s “Tron: Uprising” (2012), In addition, he is starring in the Sundance short “Fight for your Right Revisited” directed by Adam Yauch and starring John C. Reilly and Seth Rogen. "

IMTA alum Elijah Wood will play Beck in the new animated series Tron: Uprising. According to MovieFone.com: " The show will make its debut on the small screen in the summer of 2012 and will feature a voice cast of interesting names -- including Elijah Wood as the series' main character. Wood plays Beck, 'who leads a revolution inside the Grid's computer world.' The Grid, of course, is an advanced, digital universe created by leading video-game developer Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) in the 1982 movie. In 'Tron: Legacy,' Flynn's son Sam (Garrett Hedlund) enters the grid to find his father who has been trapped there for 20 years. Disney XD will air 'Uprising,' along with the previously announced 10-episode 'Tron' microseries, which starts in fall 2011. "

Elijah Wood in 24 Hour Plays on Broadway!

IMTA alum Elijah Wood will be appearing in the 10th annual benefit 24 Hour Plays on Broadway which tasks 24 actors, six writers and six directors to come up with six original short plays over the course of a day. The play which will only show for one night at the American Airlines Theater benefits the Urban Arts Partnership which brings arts education into New York City classrooms.

After competing at IMTA, Elijah has gone on to star in over 40 feature films. Currently, Elijah is post production on Happy Feet 2 which was done in 3D! Elijah Wood Featured in Entertainment Weekly!

A very special issue of Entertainment Weekly is on newsstands now. It's the Twentieth Anniversary Reunion issue and classic casts are reunited. Elijah and his cast mates from Lord of the Rings were photographed in Los Angeles by Michael Muller. Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan and IMTA alum Elijah Wood were featured.

Check out IMTA Alum'89 Elijah Wood in a new video for The Apples in Stereo! After competing at IMTA, Elijah has gone on to star in over 40 feature films.
