Mertesacker confident that Germany will do well

Despite Germany losing 5-3 against Switzerland, Per Mertesacker is still confident that Germany will do well in the Euro Championships. Germany defense was horrendous to say the least, with the pairing of Mertesacker and Mats Hummels proving to be shocking. But despite this performance, Mertesacker was not panicking and said that Germany still can win the Championship, as Germany always performed well when it really mattered. Germany have a tough group, having to beat the likes of Netherlands, Portugal and Denmark, which believe it or not, all the teams did not win their respective games this weekend. Germany placed runners-up last Euro Championship, and also reaching the semi-finals in the last World Cup, which in both occasions Germany were not favorites. Mertesacker continued to say that it's the toughest group, but the experience they have gained will help them in marching on.
