Gerard Pique and Shakira...lovely couple!

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is becoming close with Colombian popstar Shakira.

The pair met when Shakira performed at the World Cup in South Africa and Sport says they were spotted together in the coastal town of Blanes on Sunday.

Pique's relationship with the star confirms his growing profile around the globe thanks to the defender's key role in Spain's World Cup win and Barca's current success.

The former Manchester United defender is fast emerging as the new global star of Nike's football stable.
