Most people sleepwalk through life. Like rats in a maze, they follow along a path trying to find cheese that never exists. I bring this up because a couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine almost died, through no fault of her own. One minute she was fine. The next minute, she had massive headaches & started throwing up. She was taken to the hospital, where the doctors sent her to emergency surgery. It turns out, she had a tumor lodged in her brain that moved into the wrong spot.
Now, she didn’t know she had a tumor. After all, it’s not something that usually shows up in your regular physical. The bad news is that it’s in a part of the brain where they can’t completely get at it to take it out. The good news is that it’s noncancerous.
The doctors moved it back so that it won’t bother her & the prognosis looks good for a full recovery. However, think about it. One minute, you have your life in front of you. The next minute, you’re being rushed to possible life ending surgery. Think about what you would give at that moment to do things better in your life. Think about the dreams you would give anything to have a chance to fulfill. How would you live your life, if given a chance to live again?
Now, she’s been given the chance to find out. I hope she takes what’s happened to her as a sign to finally live her dreams. There are no do-overs in life but most people live their lives like there are. Most people are like rats in a maze. Don’t be. Never give up on your dreams. If you don’t like your situation, change it. If you think it’s too tough, it’s because you’re limiting yourself. Changing your situation takes guts.
Most people are slaves to their past. There’s nothing you can do to change your past so get over it. There’s only the present & the future. Only one of those is guaranteed & that’s the present. The future never is. Life is precious & every day is a gift. Use the gift wisely. Use every day wisely. Carpe diem. Seize the day.
